MIXING DIRECTIONS FOR LIQUID FEEDING
Please see the following table for feeding instructions. Add 1 level enclosed cup of dry Sav-A-Lam Milk Replacer powder to 1 pint (2 enclosed cups) of warm (115-120° F) water and mix thoroughly with a wire whisk. The enclosed up holds approximately 4 ounces by weight (113 grams) of dry powder, equal in volume to a standard dry kitchen cup. Feed the reconstituted milk replacer solution at about 90-100° F if feeding by bottle. If feeding free choice, chill the mixed milk replacer solution to help prevent over-consumption, and provide fresh solution daily.

Individual lambs vary in requirements. Adjust the amount of powder and/or liquid milk replacer fed according to the lamb’s body weight and appetite, the environmental conditions and your own good judgment. When in question about nutrition requirements please consult with your veterinarian or animal nutritionist.
STORAGE
Refrigerate unused Sav-A-Lam Milk Replacer solution immediately after mixing. Reheat gently over warm water and mix thoroughly before feeding. Do not microwave or freeze the solution. Discard unused refrigerated Sav-A-Lam solution after 24 hours.
Store dry Sav-A-Lam powder in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry place, and use within 6 months of manufacture whenever possible. Shelf life may be extended by freezing the dry powder in an airtight container.

LAMB MANAGEMENT TIPS
COLOSTRUM – IMPORTANT!
Feed colostrum from the ewe within 2 hours after birth whenever possible. Colostrum is the first milking from the ewe following birth, providing nutrients, growth factors, and immune globulin proteins that are crucial to the health and growth of the newborn lamb. If the ewe’s colostrum is not available, another ewe’s colostrum, or fresh goat or cow colostrum may be substituted, or you may feed Ultra Start® Colostrum Supplement according to label directions for lambs. Lambs that do not receive colostrum may scour easily.
FEEDING LIQUID MILK REPLACER TO LAMBS
Bottle feed for the first few days to ensure adequate intake of colostrum and a smooth transition to milk replacer. After that, Sav-A-Lam Milk Replacer may be offered warm from a bottle, or room temperature to cold in a suitable feeder free choice. Clean equipment thoroughly and provide fresh milk replacer daily. Monitor milk replacer intake carefully, as over-consumption can cause scours. If scours occur, reduce milk feedings and feed Electrolytes PlusTM according to label directions for lambs. If scours persist or worsen consult with your veterinarian.
WATER AND SOLID FEEDS
Provide fresh, clean water at all times. Begin offering small amounts of high-quality creep feed at about one week of age. Provide access to high quality hay or pasture at about three weeks of age.
WEANING
Most healthy lambs can be weaned from liquid milk replacer at about 30 pounds body weight or 30 days of age, provided that they are consuming hay and grain daily, and are growing well.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE AS A DRY POWDER SUPPLEMENT
Sav-A-Lam Milk Replacer may be top-dressed or mixed into grain, dry starter feed, or creep feed to encourage feed intake during the weaning period for lambs, or to provide supplemental nutrients to stressed or under-conditioned sheep. Mix 2 dry ounces (1/2 kitchen cup) into 1 pound of fresh dry feed daily. Discard any unconsumed dry feed each day to help avoid spoilage.
