Add one packet (350 grams) of dry Ultra Start® 150 PLUS powder to 1½ quarts clean, warm water at 110-120°F and mix thoroughly until completely dissolved. Allow the solution to cool to 100-105°F before feeding.
Feed the entire volume of solution as soon as possible after birth (within 2 hours if possible). Begin feeding calf milk replacer or whole milk the next feeding 6-12 hours later. For best results, bottle-feed Ultra Start® 150 PLUS. Use an esophageal tube feeder if necessary to ensure consumption.
Every calf is an individual. The directions above are written for a calf that is about 75-100 pounds at birth. Adjust the amounts fed according to the calf’s body weight, the environmental conditions, and the level of calf disease on your farm. Consult with your veterinarian if you have questions.
